Positive

Mark this day!
At work I got a ton of things done and gathered some very interesting results.
Well, to be honest in my business "very interesting" can mean anything from extremely good to extremely bad. And the truth is that only about half of the data I produced today are truly interesting and "good news".
The other half is a surprise and very controversial regarding some already published data. That alone doesn't make it bad. But the fact that the controversial data were published by our lab creates a rather serious issue.
Let's hope that there's a simple explanation. Let's be positive (in a non-negative way).

Make me Pure

In the cafeteria today there were two guys sitting next to our little lunch group. One of them smelled just like the canadian guy. After feeling sweaty hot (fever?) due to a minor cold all day, that was just the kind of olfactory input I needed.

However, I feel better tonight. I think I'm over it. :)

Song: Robbie Williams - Make Me Pure

Tell a joke
Tell it twice
If no one else is laughing
Then why am I
I split my sides both times
And laugh untill I crie
Oh Lord
Please, make me pure
But not yet

Have I mentioned yet that the new Robbie Williams album (Intensive Care) kicks ass? One word: A W E S O M E ! ! !

Clocks

I took off work early today. I don't really want to go into detail about what that means, but I'll give you some ideas:

> today I worked from 9.15am - 6.05pm, with no lunch break and a short coffee break
> I have a 20h contract (per week)
> I work Monday through Friday
> sometimes I come in on the weekend (like last saturday)

You get the point.

I caught a cold and felt a little sick over the weekend. I had paperwork coming in via eMail friday night and sunday morning. I didn't touch it. I was busy with laundry, cleaning up, grocery shopping and non paperwork at work on saturday. Sunday I didn't feel good at all and just tried to relax. Most of the day was spent in bed.

So today I spent the whole morning and early afternoon catching up on paperwork. After some minor interruptions I was finally done at 3pm. Time had gone by extremely quick. I took care of some "real" work, had a talk with the boss at 4pm, enjoyed a coffee and some chocolate after that, then got some more work done and finally packed my stuff at 6pm.

Not a typical day. I should skip lunch more often. Also I should stay at home when I feel sick.

Lovers in a Dangerous Time

There is one thing I will never understand. Who on earth started to spread the rumor that men were better able to handle the art of logic than women!? Could this person please stand up and define "logic" to me? My definition must be wrong because my perception is that most guys act anything but logic and on top of that they don't seem to think at all, let go think logic.

Here is the best way to scare away a woman (success 100% guaranteed):
After the first date (!!!) call her every day and if she doesn't answer the first time retry at least four times. Try all available numbers and leave at least one message on each available answering machine. When she contacts you don't have a normal conversation. No, try to ask her whether she is seeing other guys, whether there is someone she is interested in or why else would she never answer the phone or call back immediately. And then react offended and stop talking to her for a while when she doesn't want to talk about "stupid stuff like this".

Honestly, it can get too much to handle. It's scary. And some people do work late and go to bed before midnight! And I don't enjoy private conversations on the phone while the person on the other end is actually working and talking to customers inbetween. How sick is that!?

I know I made mistakes. But I always tried to be reasonable. I hope. Oh man, I guess I made the very same mistakes once.

The other day I was talking to my mom on the phone and she asked me how my dating life was going. I told her of my latest disappointments and what goes wrong in general. She said I should try to be less direct and honest. And that you had to praise men for the things they are bad at!??? Her idea is that when you praise them for something they suck at they will get better and better until they can handle it. Errrr, ok. That's not logic at all, but I already found out that men are not logical creatures.

This post was kindly inspired by the Barenaked Ladies. Five Canadian guys (very logic band name btw) that I've been adoring for a couple of years. Actually ever since they were opening the show for a "big star". And I went to three more concerts of this guy just to see the BNL. They were so good that the whole crowd kept yelling for encores of the opening act while the "star" was already on stage. And that though most of the crowd had not known them before. :) Doesn't speak for the "star", does it? Well, it was Bryan Adams. ;)

When you’re lovers in a dangerous time
Sometimes you’re made to feel as if your love’s a crime
Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
Got to kick at the darkness ’til it bleeds daylight
When you’re lovers in a dangerous time

Over And Out

Are you there?
Do you read me?
Are you there?
I don't feel you anymore

Are you there?
Will you give in?
Are you there?
If I give out
Over and out

Stereophonics Live

The other day I found myself in first row directly infront of Kelly and lost in memories. The crowd behind me was going wild. The show was a blast. It was also a blast from the past. I had to think of previous times I had seen them live. I remembered how I travelled to the venue and back, the people I watched, met and spoke to, the support acts, the way I got all nervous before the very first concert because I had to pick up my ticket at the box office and it just wouldn't open (I ended up in second row infront of Richard), how I had to leave this first concert early to catch the last train, the states of life I was in, all the little things that happened before and during the different shows and so much more. For a moment I was very melancholic.
Meanwhile Kelly was singing "(...) It's never too late, To change lanes, How's your life? How's your place? Was it where you wanted your head to lay? But wait, you can breathe, You can see what I can see, Don't waste your time, You can't make back, If you could rewind your time, Would you change your life? (...) Cause change is okay, What's the point in staying the same? Regrets, forget what's dead and gone (...)"
Another thought crossed my mind. It was a weird one. Kelly seemed so familiar. It was only the 5th time I was seeing them live and I thought that this is kinda like the start of a relationship. You know, like when you go out with a guy for more than two or three times. And NO, I don't dig Kelly! Honestly! Anyway, so there I was, my life had changed since the last time, living in a new city, working at a different place, again face to face with Kelly, wondering what he has been through, what they have been through since I last saw them play in March 2004.
It's funny how you see certain people again throughout your life. And others just disappear. It's tough not to dwell on the past and to forget what's "dead and gone". I don't want to miss my memories, none of them! I don't want to forget, I just don't want to go through certain things again! Life is good and as long as I'm going to see Kelly again it will be better. ;) Just kidding. Anyway, life has a way of dragging you along. And I'm actually still at work, waiting for something to finish and avoiding phone calls from a certain guy.

Best Places to Live: Compare the Best Cities

Here's the Quiz

My top three are Portland, Oregon; Hartford, Connecticut and Worcester, Massachusetts.
Too bad this only includes cities in the US. I think my spot really is somewhere else.

Can you tell that I'm a little bored? On TV a show about Britney Spears is running. But hey, she can really sing!

Stress Level Analysis

Try this.
I'm Type C - I have a fair stress level.
And right now I feel very relaxed. I just made myself some chocolate pudding and am waiting for it to cool off. :)
